Forehead wrinkles

Deep forehead wrinkles, or lines, can be a common worry for adult men and women.

The main cause is a reduction of elastin and collagen being produced by our skin. As we age, the production of these proteins slows down, affecting the skin’s elasticity.

Other contributing factors to brow and forehead wrinkles, besides genetics, include excessive sun exposure, smoking and pollution.

How to prevent forehead wrinkles

The best way to prevent them is by protecting your skin all year round. Follow a good skincare routine, make sure to use an SPF cream to protect your skin from UV rays.

Try also to minimise stress, and keep hydrated during the day. If you’re a smoker, stop smoking as smoking is known to speed up the normal ageing process which contributes to wrinkles. Aside from age, smoking is the strongest predictor of facial wrinkling in men and women. Many of the chemicals in tobacco smoke are also known to damage collagen and elastin, which are the fibres that give your skin its strength and elasticity. Because of this, the skin begins to sag and wrinkle prematurely.

How to treat them

Although a surgical brow lift can treat forehead lines, it is also possible to smooth the area with non-invasive procedures that don’t incur any downtime and obtain great results.

Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant often prescribed by doctors a popular and proven method for treating forehead wrinkles.

Administered correctly and by a qualified medical practitioner such as Dr Mittal, botulinum toxin injections diminish forehead wrinkles whilst still enabling movement in your facial expressions and avoiding the ‘frozen’ or ‘plastic’, look.

How long does it take to see results?

It usually takes 5-7 days to see the full results of a botulinum toxin forehead wrinkle treatment. You can obtain good results after just a single injection.
