Whether we call them crow’s feet, laughter lines, character lines or simply eye wrinkles, the lines on the outside corners of our eyes are inevitable. Crow’s feet or eye wrinkles are a sign of ageing but have the undesired effect of making us look tired and old.

Our eye area is particularly prone to wrinkles because the skin under and around our eyes is thin and more susceptible to environmental damage such as smoking, pollution and UV rays. As there are fewer oil glands in the eye area the loss of collagen and elastin leave the skin drier and less supple. Along with the continuous movement of facial contractions like smiling and squinting, which are a natural part of life, these lines and creases tend to become a more permanent feature

The best way to reduce the formation of crow’s feet/eye wrinkles is to protect the are from the sun, stop smoking, keep the area hydrated and follow a good skin care regime. However, when eye wrinkles/crow’s feet have become permanent creases then botulinum toxin A injections are used to treat them with surprisingly natural results. Dr Prerna Mittal can advise on the best treatment available allowing movement in your facial expressions to remain and avoid the unwanted ‘frozen’ look.

The use of Anti-wrinkles injections relax the muscles in the treated area that would normally contract and cause the skin to crease. Hunar Clinic believes in a soft approach to wrinkle smoothing, avoiding the frozen look and allowing the patient movement and expression. Dr Prerna Mittal prides herself on her knowledge and expertise about non-surgical procedures and is more than happy to offer advice on available treatments.

Generally, most patients will treat their crow’s feet at the same time as their forehead and brow lines along bunny lines at the top of the nose, with  to give the whole of the upper area of the face a smooth and rejuvenated appearance.

Anti-wrinkle treatments can take between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on whether you combine your consultation with your treatment or not.

A very fine needle is used to place the product under the skin, into the muscle. It can cause discomfort in some patients so a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to numb the area so that the client usually only feels a slight pricking/stinging sensation.

It can take up to ten days to see the final results of the wrinkle smoothing injections and the effects can last for an average of 3-4 months, although the best news is that after a few treatments, this can often increase to six months.

Occasionally there may be some mild swelling or bruising and possibly a headache for up to an hour afterward. However, most people will leave the clinic immediately to resume their daily routine, including driving.

It is often referred to as a “lunchtime procedure” because people quite literally get the treatment for crow’s feet, forehead and brow lines performed during their lunch break and then go straight back to work.

Dr Prerna Mittal recommends that post treatment you:

  • Don’t rub or massage treated area, be assured any marks or bumps will disappear.
  • Don’ apply make-up for up to 4 hours after treatment.
  • Don’ perform any strenuous exercise for up to 6 hours.
  • Don’ drink alcohol for 6 hours.
  • Don’ lie down for 4 hours after treatment.
  • If you have any bruises you may apply Arnica Gel or cream to the area.
  • Avoid having a facial for 24 hours.

*Patients experiences will vary dependent on age, lifestyle and medical history

Dr Prerna Mittal will discuss the options with you at your consultation as treatments vary according to the patient, the number of procedures you are having, the brand and how much is required.
